I Stopped Telling My Son to ‘Get a Job’ and Wrote Him a Book. Why Mindset is the Missing Piece in Business Education

The Heavy Silence Across the Hallway
There’s a specific kind of silence that settles into a house when a young person is struggling. It’s not the peaceful silence of a sleeping home; it’s a heavy, suffocating weight that you can feel through the floorboards.
I’ve heard that silence. I’ve watched someone I love slowly retreat from everything. I’ve seen the daytime lethargy where even opening the curtains feels like too much effort, followed by those long, lonely nights where the only light is the cold blue glow of a phone. In those early hours, you see a face illuminated by a screen, searching for answers that a computer simply cannot provide.
It’s heartbreaking to watch your child finish school or university, clutching a folder full of certificates they worked so hard for, only to realise the world doesn’t actually have a place for them yet. They have followed every instruction on the map, only to find themselves standing at the edge of a cliff.
A Free Path Forward: The 26-Step Journey
I am writing this because I want to help lift that fog. We are officially soft launching the Extraordinary Millionaire Youth Entrepreneurship Program, and my goal is to get the "new map" into the hands of those who need it most, without any barriers.
The heart of this program is a 188-page coaching narrative titled "Bens Book." It isn't a collection of dry tips; it’s a survival manual that walks 16–24-year-olds through three vital phases:
Phase 1: The Internal Foundation: We don’t touch a business plan until we’ve repaired the person. We focus on sleep, biological maintenance, and reclaiming an identity from the fog of lethargy.
Phase 2: Programming the Millionaire Mindset: This is where we rewire the brain to stop scanning for threats and start spotting the massive opportunities that AI is creating.
Phase 3: Building the Business Engine: We teach the actual mechanics of freedom—how to decouple time from money and how to build a "Black Book" of experts.
Our mission is to make this 6-month journey 100% free for every young person in the UK. To celebrate the upcoming launch, I am making the digital blueprint available for free to anyone in my community today.
Why We Are Giving This Away for Free
I am incredibly proud of the man my son is becoming. But as I watched him find his footing, I realised that this roadmap is too important to keep just for our family. There are nearly a million young people in the UK right now standing at the edge of that same cliff, and I don't want them, or their parents, to feel that suffocating silence for a second longer than they have to.
This isn't about selling a course. It’s a rescue mission. I want to help our youth move from being a passenger in a falling economy to being the General on the hill of their own lives. We shouldn't let them struggle through years of costly trial and error just to find their way. Opportunity shouldn't depend on your background or your bank balance; it should depend on your willingness to learn.
We’re Sending Them Out with Blunt Tools
The truth is the promise we made to our children, the one about a guaranteed path to a happy and successful future if they just followed the rules, has been destroyed. We are living through a massive disconnect. On one hand, AI is changing the working environment at a velocity we have never seen before. Research from Goldman Sachs suggests that generative AI could automate the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs over the next 3 to 5 years. For our 16- to 24-year-old children, this is especially acute; the "entry-level" roles that used to be the ladder into a career are being thinned out by code before they even get a chance to apply.
And on the other hand, our educational institutions are like oil tankers; they take years to change direction. Curriculums are often years out of date by the time a student tosses their cap in the air. The World Economic Forum predicts that 44% of workers’ skills will be disrupted in the next five years. We are essentially sending our children into a 2026 economy with a 2006 toolkit. This "Institutional Lag" is why so many feel redundant before their lives have even begun. They followed a map for a destination that is effectively no longer there.
A Father’s Strategy: Writing a Guide for the Abyss
When I saw this abyss opening for my own son, I knew a lecture wasn't the answer. He didn't need to be told to "find something to do." He needed a system to find out who he was meant to be in this new world.
Instead of just offering advice, I pulled on the lessons I’ve learned and shared through co-authoring The Rock Bottom Paradox and The Extraordinary Millionaire Blueprint and wrote him a book. I wanted to give him a practical record of everything I know about building a life of freedom and purpose from scratch, especially when the old rules no longer apply. I wanted to give him something that he could go through time and again in his own time.
Just like our previous books, I’ve written "Bens Book" as a story. I believe that stories have a power that dry textbooks simply don’t. A story allows a young person to see themselves in the journey; it transforms a rigid lecture into a shared human experience. I didn’t want to give my son more classroom time; he’d had enough of that. I wanted to give him a narrative he could connect with, where the complex mechanics of mindset, wealth and entrepreneurship become relatable, engaging, and achievable.
Why Mindset is the Missing Piece in Business Education
I honestly believe that entrepreneurship is the answer for our children, but only when it's founded on their core values and "Why." I’ve seen so many people build a business just for the sake of money, only to discover that they have just built themself a different kind of cage.
The problem today is that most entrepreneurship and business classes available to our youth completely miss the point. They’ll teach you how to write a business plan or use a spreadsheet, but they skip the critical mindset lessons that are fundamental to being a successful entrepreneur. They don't teach you how to handle a week of rejections, how to stay motivated when you're working alone, or how to rewire your brain to see opportunity where others see a disaster. Without that mental bedrock, all the business theory in the world won't save you when the market shifts.
Three Simple Ways to Help Them Find Their Feet
We’ve been working through these steps together, and I’ve watched the "limbo fog" lift for him. If you have a young person in your life who is currently stuck in that daytime lethargy, here are three things we focused on first:
Get the Basics Right First: You can’t think clearly when your biology is a mess. We implemented a "Digital Sunset" to get sleep back on track and a rule about getting 20 minutes of sunlight every morning before looking at a notification. It’s about servicing the machine so it’s ready to move when the opportunity arrives.
Flip the Story: Stop asking "Why is this happening to me?" and start asking, "Why is this happening for me?" Maybe that rejection is actually a filter, stopping them from wasting years in a role doomed to vanish anyway. It’s an invitation to build his own value.
Bank the Tiny Wins: Big dreams are paralysing. We stopped looking at the "summit" and started looking at the next ten steps. Making the bed, sending one meaningful message, or researching one business name, these are pebbles. If you stack enough of them, you eventually build a mountain. Momentum is just physics.
Join the Movement
I am immensely proud of the man my son is becoming. But watching the light come back into his eyes made me realise that this roadmap is far too important to keep behind closed doors. It is a lifeline for anyone who feels unseen, unheard, or unsure of where to begin.
If you know a young person who is currently adrift, or if you are that young person, don’t wait for the world to hand you a map that no longer exists.

The old road is gone. It's time to pick up the pen and draw a new one. Let’s stop asking our children what they want to do when they grow up, and start helping them discover exactly who they are meant to be today.
